The third innovation seminar in the framework of a joint regional project with the Government of the Republic of Korea has been held

A two-day seminar on the development of innovations and digitalization and their implementation in the public sector was held as part of a joint three-year project of the Government of the Republic of Korea, UNDP and the Astana Civil Service Hub. The event was attended by over 70 representatives of government agencies from over 15 countries, including seven countries participating in the Project.

On the first day of the seminar, speakers, namely the political analyst of the Digital Government and Data Unit of the OECD Mr. Felipe González-Zapata, Senior GovTech Governance Specialists of the World Bank Mr. João Vasconcelos and Mr. Youngseok Kim, as well as Project Manager at the e-Government Standard Framework Center of the Republic of Korea under the MOIS and NIA Mr. Chang Won Yoon gave their presentations. Particularly, speakers shared their best practices and solutions in the development and provision of public services in the digital age, interaction with public sectors, data management, interoperability across systems, they also highlighted the results of the case study and digital government standards framework.  

On Day II of the event, the countries of the region presented their experience in performance management of the digitalisation processes, outlined the role of proactive public services and the principle of “human-centered”, as well as the importance of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the digitalization process etc. In particular, presentations were delivered by the Head of the Digitalization Department, Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Mr. Arshak Kerobyan, Chief Manager of Digital Governance and Cyber Security Strategic Directions, Digital Governance Agency of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia Ms. Eka Gordadze, Senior Specialist of the E-Government Infrastructure Development Department, Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic Ms. Aichurok Beksultanova, Head of the New Technologies Department, Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Abubakr Pirov. Also, the video presentation was made by the Vice President for International Affairs, Dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration at Kookmin University, Republic of Korea Dr. Byoung Joon Kim.

During the seminar, the participants discussed the issues related to digital transformation and management of the efficiency of business processes.

This project is being implemented under the provisions of the signed Grant Arrangement Agreement between UNDP in Kazakhstan (UNDP) and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) for the implementation of the project “Capacity Building for Innovations in Governance and Digitalization of Public Services”. The project is designed for three years and will be implemented by ACSH and UNDP in partnership with MOIS and NIA. The project is financed by the Government of the Republic of Korea.

The project envisions to conduct workshops to improve and/or upgrade the skills of civil servants with the involvement of leading Korean experts, as well as to organize study visits to government agencies of the Republic of Korea.
